Descrition:

1 General Requirement: The Casagrande Apparatus is used in determination of moisture content at which clay soils pass from plastic to liquid state (the liquid limit) in the Material testing laboratory.
All the parts, components, accessories, fittings of the equipment shall be brand new and of current production and shall be factory in built. The manufacturing year of the equipment shall not before 2021.
2 Compliance: The apparatus shall comply ASTM D4318 & AASHTO T89 Standard.
3 Brand: Worldwide reputed brand. Liquid Limit Devices
4 Model: To be mentioned by the bidder (supported by original catalogue).
5 Country of Origin: The Country of origin having HDI minimum 0.85 according to United Nations HDI latest list.
6 Country of Manufacturing: The manufacturing country having HDI minimum 0.85 according to United Nations HDI latest list.
7 Country of Shipment:Shipment country shall be of same as country of origin.
8 Liquid-Limit Device: A mechanical device consisting a brass cup suspended from a carriage designed to control its drop onto a hard rubber base. The design of the device may vary provided that the essential functions are preserved. The device will be operated by an electric motor. Different components of the Liquid-Limit-Device are the following
9 Base: Made of hard-rubber having a Durometer-Hardness of 80 to 90, and a resilience such that an 8 mm diameter polished steel ball, when dropped from a height of 25 cm will have an average rebound of at least 80 % but no more than 90 %. The tests shall be conducted on the finished feet with feet attached.
10 Feet :The base shall be supported by rubber feet designed to provide isolation of the base from the work surface.
11 Cup: The cup shall be made of brass and having a weight (including cup hanger) of 185 to 215gm
12 Cam: It shall raise the cup smoothly and continuously to its maximum height, over a distance of at least 180o of cam rotation. The preferred cam motion is a uniformly accelerated lift curve.
13 Carriage: The cup carriage shall be constructed in a way that allows convenient but secure adjustment of the height of drop of the cup to 10 mm. The cup hanger shall be attached to the carriage by means of a pin which allows removal of the cup and cup hanger for cleaning and inspection.
14 ASTM Grooving-Tool: 2 nos Flat-Grooving-Tools (made of plastic or non-corroding metal) are required conforming to ASTM D-4318. The flat-grooving-tool shall have a radius of curvature 50mm, width 40mm, thickness 2mm. The width of the triangular portion shall be 11mm at the base and 2mm at the tip. The grooving side shall have a beveled edge of 600 angle.
15 AASHTO Grooving-Tool: 2 nos brass made Grooving-Tools as per AASHTO T-89 are required also for soil of low plasticity, having Curved-End thickness 10±0.1mm, cutting edge 2±0.1mm, width 13.5±0.1mm, Angle 600, shaft length 76.2mm, Gage depth 10±0.1mm, gage length 15.9mm. Liquid Limit Devices
16 Manual: Original ‘Operation & Maintenance Manual’ to be given in English version along with the machine.
17 Accessories: All the accessories related to the operation of the above mentioned Apparatus. Liquid Limit Devices
